The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart. Helen Keller
Does your heart beat to the rhythm of love?
What are the thoughts of your heart? Do you have a big heart? Do you have a heart of gold? Maybe you're the one to take it to heart, or be faint of heart. Are you perhaps heavy-hearted, or hardhearted? How about lighthearted, or young at heart? These idiomatic sayings can get you thinking about what is that your heart center. Even if your heart generally shines bright, why not let it shine even brighter??
Friday, February 17 is National Random Acts of Kindness Day. That sounds like an opportunity for us all to add kindhearted to our list! I am thinking that if we start rehearsing at the beginning of that week, we will be ready with open hearts to breathing kindness.
Now, I have to tell you, I am all over this thing! I always try to be in that space of kindness - leaving it better than I found it. That ‘It’, or situation that I like to leave better than I found presents itself every day with multiple chances to expand my own heart center through other's joy.
It can be calling or stopping by to visit an elderly neighbor. It can be making a random donation or one that you always meant to get around to. It can be giving someone your bottle and can receipts to cash in at the grocery store. The list is endless. It can be a word of encouragement. It can be a heartfelt acknowledgment of someone who serves you at a retail, grocery store, or restaurant. It can be smiling cheerily to someone you pass by. It can be purchasing a beverage for the person behind you at the drive-through.
The more anonymous the act of kindness is, the better. You will feel blessed as you drive away, and realize that no thanks are needed… for you will be smiling inward at the joy of another. You don't have to give it a lot of thought either - you'll just know ‘It’ when you are in that moment. If your heart is grateful for everything around you, the actions will just flow. So open up your heart, give, and let that light inside of you shine on someone else. Be a ray in someone’s day!
Enjoy the blessings of giving.
...always be the love that YOU are
