The Energy of Autumn

Have faith to let go of the old, so new things come.

As the changing season is noticeably upon us, it brings a "falling away" of the warm, excitable energy of the summer. The shorter days, increasing darkness, and the crisp feel and smell in the air gets our attention and reminds us that we need to transition.

While the yin and yang of the seasons instinctively balance this in nature, some of us have a difficult time, even if we enjoy all of the beauty this time of year brings.

Outwardly, it is time to "dress for seasonal success." This means it is time to cover up that neck and chest while still enjoying the outdoors. Breathe in that wonderful, fresh, clean air as you purify your lungs and welcome the season.

Looking up, we see the colorful illuminated leaves against the brilliant clear blue sky and shining sun. The pumpkins and colorful array of root vegetables and apples are proudly displayed at roadside markets. Along with the fruit and vegetable harvest, we need to make sure that we harvest or complete any summer projects. It is a good time after de-cluttering outside to do the same on the inside of the house. Get rid of items that no longer serve you, and find donation sites for those less fortunate during this season of thankfulness.

As we cast our eyes across the ground we experience the vivid colors of the leaves scattered over the bright green grass. The contrast is a beautiful awareness of how the leaves will break down into a simpler element and nourish the earth. They will do this with the same faith that was able to allow them to let go from the tree branches in the first place. By that same process this season, when we are able to let go and come in, we can then nourish our mind and body with the simpler element of thankful reflection.

Come in from the outside! The balance of this season is meant to bring your thoughts inward and enjoy the quiet reflection and thanksgiving of all that is. Let go of the old distractions and only bring in the colorful, rich, nourishing beauty of the season.

Letting go creates space for something better.

always be the love that you are called to be in each day
