What If?

What if you woke up to only the things that you thanked God for yesterday?

This is a symbolic month of springtime that is grounding and allowing as our energy to spring up from the long winter months emerges. We reach for the skies like a beautiful new growth from within as we meet the pull of the springtime sun. For most of us the month of March signifies the promise of springtime as we gain an hour of natural daylight. The birds return filling the air with their sweet songs and joyful trills of anticipation. These are the first songs of spring – these joyful, sweet melodies resounding with hope. What a perfect time of the year to adopt or renew an attitude of gratitude! We are reaching out from the cold and dark of the winter months as we move forward renewed, rested, and rejuvenated. The March winds are blowing away the stagnation of winter stillness and can begin to stir up some joyful anticipation or some anguish with these winds of change. If you do feel anxious, embrace the love that is resting deep within you. Shine on it and nourish it just like the buds of springtime that are grounded in patience, faith, and gratitude. Root your "what if's” in love instead of fear. What if we lived life as a drop of water in the ocean does – flowing freely, knowing it is separate and integral, yet part of the whole body of water. That drop of water would dry out without moving as a part of some body of water. Live your life as part of your body, knowing that all the parts work together for the good of the whole. Thich Nat Hahn once illustrated this by noting that if he were hammering a nail with his right hand and clumsily pounded the thumb of his left hand, here's what would happen –-The right-hand would respond by putting the hammer down to caress and soothe the left hand. It would not react by sl

apping it, screaming at it, or belittling it for what had happened – because that is not how you heal when you are one. Through this example there would only seem to be one way to advance through our own hearts. So, let's re-frame our thinking this season and respond by forgiving and soothing our worries, injustices, and intentions rather than reacting to them with a slap on the hand. What if – there is only love? ...always be the love that you are, Cheri
