…..your heart, your purpose
There is something in each of us that makes our heart sing. There are songs of the season that the birds share, songs of the wind that are both gentle and howling, and there are songs of hope in the rainbow. Life sings songs that lead us to dance, to tears, to joy, or to love. What is your song? Do you have an upbeat, happy tune? Or do you have a tendency for singing the blues? Are you always updating your playlist? Are you singing the songs of someone else’s playlist? When you are in your drama of the day, don’t look for more of the same in your songs - switch to something that fills you up with your purpose and light. This is different for each of us. Not only the song, but the time we each need to refocus. For some, just a few bars of a familiar and soothing tune can uplift and reframe. For others, an entire album may be needed to turn the frown upside down. Some days definitely warrant the entire album! Sing of what is to come, the joy that is, the anticipation of good to come. We all need a new song for a new season in our life. Children’s stories often have beautifully simple messages for us to embrace. One story, written by Eric Litwin, Pete the Cat reminds us not to take things too seriously. As he walks in his new white shoes, a few unfortunate experiences change their color many times. Instead of despair, he accepts the uninvited changes. Staying steady, he keeps, "walking along and singing his song." He knows that the good will come from accepting the present moment. Look up this book and read Pete's story. You will experience a joyful heart and song. Children’s songs also have a tendency to bring the heart of our inner child to the surface. Whatever your favorite, it will be stuck in your head for days and you will shake your head and smile. A few oldies are; ‘You are my sunshine’; ‘Inch by inch, row by row’; ‘Mr. Sun’; ‘He’s got the whole world in his hands’….. Growing up in the 60’s and 70’s, I have a fondness for the happy, ‘Feelin’ groovy’, ‘Make your own kind of music’ tunes, or ‘Zippety-do-dah’, ‘Blue skies, nothin’ but blue skies.’ My all time theme song is ‘This little light of mine’ for when I am with a difficult or negative person or situation. This reminds me of the love that I am, and the need to dispel judgment or uneasiness. Search out some songs with happy tunes and create a list of go-to tunes that turn your frown upside down. Let your transitions of the seasons of your life, your heart, or your purpose give you something new and energizing to think about. Put a song in your heart, in your step, and in all that you do!
....always be the love that YOU are
