The Rainbow is the Pot of Gold

Most of us have dreamed at one time or another (or a lot of others) about that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. The gift – the bonus you don't have to wait for, work for, or ask for - it's just there…right at the end of the rainbow! The initial draw is the same for all ages – the marvel of the multi-colored painting in the sky. Instinctively, when the sunshine emerges during the rain, we look to the opposite sky where the rain is just passing. We run out of the house or pullover to the side of the road to find it. Then, of course, we have to take a picture of it if possible. That beautiful prismatic arch with the familiar spectrum of colors! Whether it is bursting with vivid hues or whispering the gentle pastels, it still feels like a treasure to behold. This expansive display is breathtaking, inspiring, and hope-filled. It can be it's own reward – a mere recognition of that infrequent gift from the sky.

What does the pot of gold look like for you? Is it that traditional pot of gold full of abundant riches and wealth? This myth is meant to be forever illusive....this is searching for the pot of gold. Make sure that your search embraces and infuses all of the rich colors along the way with clear intent. If your intent is that of searching or waiting, you may miss the splendor of the present moment. If you are not searching or waiting for the big payoff, maybe your pot of gold at that moment is Saturday and Sunday! It could be a vacation, or a visit with an old friend. Too often, we miss the best things in life when our focus is off the prize, or too far out of focus.

No matter what your vision is for that rainbow, try asking nothing of it, and notice how the movement created in the arch offers hope as your eyes follow from side to side. Is the pot of gold at the left side, or right side of the rainbow? It matters not. The important thing is to never give up hope or anticipation of things to come at the end of the rainbow! But be sure to take the time to recognize the gifts that the rainbow itself holds. In other words - don’t chase them - embrace them!

Next time the sun is shining after or during the rain. Go out and marvel at the fascination and blessings of the rainbow, and know that all is well merely because you saw the rainbow.

...always be the love that YOU are
