I Choose to Believe

I cannot see the horizon of the sunrise or sunset from where I live… yet I believe with fair certainty and joy the dawning of the light of the new day, as well the darkness and definity of the quiet lull and closure of the sunset of the day passed. I cannot think the thoughts of young children playing, yet I believe that it takes only a glance to feel the love and playful heart these precious little carefree beings expand as they laugh and move. I cannot I hear the song of the birds as it is meant for other birds, yet I believe with delight in the joyful trills and melodies that echo to my soul and back, returning the glory to the heavens. I cannot cast blame on the harsh rains as the water pounds down and washes over the beauty and stillness of the landscape with a path that is seemingly aimless and purposeless, yet I believe that it somehow parallels and washes away the anguish of the drowning surges that I may have spouted on others.
I cannot see the strife in another’s heart, yet I believe that if I practice compassion I can recognize the quiet plea for comfort and reflection of my own strife as they pass and respond with the calling to smile warmly and say, “Hello.” I cannot directly receive the answer to my prayers, yet when I pray, I believe with all of my heart and through my faith that healing will manifest on some level of my life or others as my burdens are heard and space for something much greater will be opened up because of it.
We cannot be all things to all people, yet I believe that if we are true to our own calling, then our souls will recognize, reach out, and heal with the love that we are in the seemingly least significant situations.
I choose to believe in the power of one breath at a time, one inhale of hope and one exhale of knowing that all is well.
...always be the love that you are
