Storm Surges

The recent earthquakes, fires, tornadoes, hurricanes, and floods throughout many states, countries, and islands leave a wake of destruction as the ripple effects of that devastation reach outward. It affects us each differently and thus our personal responses vary as well.
Some of us are moved to say prayers, others to send healing energy, and others just experience those deep feelings of empathy.
This is no coincidence that it also comes at a time of the year that we experience the emotional shifts of the season. The changing energies and intense movement of the season are felt within us all. There are many variables that will affect the magnitude of each storm surge. Whether it’s our personal high tides, low tides, wind gusts, or atmospheric pressure, they all contribute to the event. Often, we just did not heed the warnings until we found ourselves reacting to the rising waters of a ‘sudden’ and imminent situation. We also need to recognize the turbulent energy and current governmental changes that have been stirring. Some experience a strong sense of defeat, thus perpetuating a disgruntled nation. In light of that, others are unknowingly apathetically fueling that storm surge rather than preparing our hearts for joining together as one. Hearts, hands and voices can stand together for the greater good of humanity, to create a space of healing in times of trouble. Why do we always wait for tragedy or misfortune to come together? Think of all the good that can be done coming together when things are in a balanced state. Being proactive in positive practices can alleviate the stress of negative reactions, as well as allowing us to find peace during the good times, and comfort and unity in the tough times.
Like that bridge over troubled waters, let’s be thankful for the awareness of other’s needs and wonderful humanitarian acts that have come out of recent tragedies…let’s go forward with grace and gratitude for all of the beauty that we have moved, sent and experienced to awaken that hopeful, loving, peaceful spirit in each of us.
Let’s strive to recognize and heed the signs that precede the daily storm surges, so that individually we are strong and then together we can rise high above them.
....always be the love that you are
